Q - I have red roots and darker color on the rest. What do I do?
A - First, I always do a clarifying treatment under heat to give me a clean slate to work on and get a good look at your hair to get closer to the problem. There are a few reasons this may have happened: 1.The color that was put on your roots was too light and possibly too warm (especially if you were going lighter than your natural color). 2.The hair color was pulled through too long and sometimes when the hair is too porous or dry,the color will soak into the hair fast. This is considered corrective work. There is a solution to this problem. You can also make your roots darker like the color on your shaft with a cooler tone. The best advice is to see a Professional who can help you look your best and lead you into the healthy way of your hair.
Q-My Grey hair will not cover. Why?
A - There are different types of hair color for their own purposes. Some will not cover. Some will blend Grey or white hair and of course there are those for full coverage. Also, when you start to go lighter with your color, there are times you won't get full coverage—just blending. If you are 80% grey—you need 80% of your color to be a neutral or 50% grey to 50% neutral, etc. Then there are times when the hair is just plain-out stubborn. Softening the cuticle of the hair prior to applying the color will help the cuticle to open and absorb the color better. Are you on medications? That can also affect the result...clarifying treatment prior to service.
Q-How can I get rid of this brassy color?
A - Hilites and canceling out on the brassiness at the same time but deepening up the brassiness outside the highlights or deepen it all together to cancel out the brassiness...it all depends on where you want to be at the end result. That can also be considered in the corrective category too...The BEST answer if you want the best all over result is to put your trust and hair into a knowledgeable Professionals' hands and enjoy the results...Consultations in the chair BEFORE the actual service is key. A knowledgeable colorist will guide you in the right direction.
Q-I want something that will blend in my gray hair that I don't have to color all the time. What do you suggest?
A - First it depends on how often all the time means to the individual. Average visits on coloring for hair (to cover white) is 4 to 6 weeks...So let's say you don't mind coming in 8 to 10 weeks.I sometimes see women be able to pull this off for 12 weeks...highlights to camouflage your whites with a natural looking effect with the foiling technique is best. Make an appointment. for a 15 minute consultation and I can give you the best alternatives. Any consultation appointment. with me is 15 minutes long maximum. Consultations should never take any longer with a stylist or something is missing.
Q-My hair is dark.I want highlights in my hair but not blonde and I want to be able to not have to go into the salon all the time.I just want something to spice up my hair. What do you suggest?
A- There are beautiful techniques with foils to soften up and add some glitzen to dark hair.Just having your lighter hilites can be beautiful only going 2 levels above your natural and I can make that happen to where it will grow out nice and won't leave a difinate line of demarkation...Give it a try!
Q- If my hairstylist colored my hilites red, can it be fixed?
A-Yes. The best advice is to redo the hilites while canceling out on the existing red tone. Sometimes it takes 2-3 visits for the red to stay away for good as it starts to fade. "The saying"....red is hard to keep when you want it and hard to get rid of when you don't. But it CAN be done with the help from a knowledgeable professional.
